The OXO Good Grips Vegetable Chopper made the process of dicing onions faster than chopping them up by hand. It’s on the smaller side, so there isn’t room to slice through the whole onion all at once–I had to cut it in half before placing one half at a time underneath the blades. With everything in place, I pressed down several times on the top, and the blade automatically rotated with each press.
Pressing hard enough to chop the onions wasn’t seamless – it did require some strength and force. I had to manually shake the onions around, too, so that the rotating blade could evenly dice the onion pieces. It was helpful to consult the instructions for disassembling and reassembling after chopping.
If you are able to apply some extra force during meal prep, the chopper does save time. It lets me chop a larger quantity of food at once, and it prevents tearing up while onion chopping! If strength is an issue, though, it might be better to take more time and stick with a good cutting board, cut-proof gloves, and a sharp knife.
