Product Review by Jessica: (meet our team)

Opening a jar can be difficult for anyone. Add a physical disability in the mix and it can make it almost impossible. There are several jar openers on the market that can help, but today I want to talk about the OXO Good Grips Jar Opener with Base Pad (referred to a Good Grip from this point on).

The Good Grip is a very useful tool that can open a wide variety of jars, such as water bottles, peanut butter jars, and medicine bottles with a child proof lid (where you have to push down and turn at the same time). I was shocked that it could open the last one - those are always difficult for me to open.

When opening this product, I saw that it had sharp teeth on one side that were covered in strips of blue adhesive over them. Peeling the blue adhesive off was kind of tricky. Once that was done, I was ready to use the Good Grip. There is a rubber base plate to put under whatever needs to be opened, to keep things from sliding. Put the jar or bottle on top of the base plate and slide the jar or bottle between the teeth of the Good Grip. Once the jar or bottle is secure, twist the Good Grip counterclockwise and the lid will come off easily. For the child proof lids, just set the jar in between the teeth, add a little pressure to the opener while twisting, and voila!
