Note from Day Undefined:

Our team members have reviewed two different models of Swiffer Spray Mops.

Jessica has reviewed the Swiffer WetJet Multi-Surface Mopping Kit, which is safe for most floors, including most finished wood floors. She uses disposable mop pads included with the kit, but reusable (washable) pads suited for the Swiffer WetJet can also be found online by searching "reusable Swiffer WetJet pads."

Karen has reviewed the Swiffer PowerMop, which is similar but has a different mop head and slightly different features. Scroll to bottom for both video demos. [Meet our team]

> Swiffer WetJet Review by Jessica:

I spent a lot of time trying to find a mop that I would be able to use. I need one that is light and moves easily. I felt like I spent months on this decision, but every mop I found would be too difficult for me to control. I tried both the Swiffer Sweeper and the Swiffer WetJet Mopping Kit. I found the Sweeper mop pads dry out quickly when I get tired and need to take a break when I mop. However, the WetJet moves just as easily as the Sweeper. The WetJet comes with a bottle of mopping solution that you just slide in the attachment on the mop, and then it sprays out of the base with the push of a button. With the swivel head, it is easy to get around corners. The pad also self-adheres to the mop, so it is easy to put on for anyone who might have trouble with their hands, like me!

>> Review Update: For a wheelchair user, when you are carrying the mop into different rooms, you will want to pay attention to where you are holding the mop. I did not pay attention, and I got a big puddle of liquid cleaner on the floor, because I apparently was pressing the button while I was going into a different room.

> Swiffer PowerMop Review by Karen:

  • How long I've been using this product: 1+ year

  • How often I use this product: A couple times a week

  • My gut feeling: Highly recommend. Mop pads and cleaning solution will be a recurring expense.

  • Why did you choose this product? The Swiffer Power Mop is lightweight and easy to maneuver with a large, articulated mop head which makes floor cleaning easy, even from a chair or walker. Solutions have a pleasant scent; availability of wood floor cleaning solution

  • What are its pros? Light weight; mop head easily swivels in all directions; large mop pad for cleaning; good mop head & pad design; disposable mop pads; easy to put mop pads on and off, but they stay securely in place when applied

  • What are its cons? Requires model specific solution; some assembly required, but it is easy; spray nozzles need to be kept clean or they may clog; requires 2 AA batteries
