With this can opener, I was having difficulty getting the lids off the cans (after using the can opener), but I figured out that I just had to squeeze the can a little bit to help the top pull off. I like this can opener because of the big turning part and also because there are no sharp edges once you are finished, and it is a reasonable price on Amazon (around US $25 when purchased).
The only reason that I don’t like this can opener is because of my coordination. I have to figure out different movements to get the can opener on and then to get the lid off. And I think the plier movement [the pliers are recommended to use to pull the lid off after opening] is out of the question. At least for right now.
Unlike battery operated electric can openers, this one is manual. Depending on whether or not you want to spend money on batteries or depending on whether or not your hand strength and coordination are an issue, manual versus batteries can be a pro or a con.
review update
I use this every time I’m opening cans. I love the fact that there are no sharp edges! And it is very ergonomically friendly. The shape of the handle makes it easier to turn and it doesn’t take too much effort to turn. It took some time to get used to how to use it and set it up on the cans. But it’s really great and I love it.
