Finger Guard
video review
intro
No tool can guarantee total protection from cuts in the kitchen, but this one can help protect the fingers on your “holding” (non-cutting) hand. Interested in seeing another option to protect your fingers? Check out Lisa’s review of the NoCry cut resistant glove.

review by Lisa
- How long I’ve been using this product: Over a week
- Why did you choose this product? To protect fingers while cutting
- What are its pros? It is small and light (it can be put in any kitchen drawer); it’s light and it works nicely to protect your fingers and thumb as well. It doesn’t cost very much. This one has 2 holes for fingers (the other one I saw on Amazon only had one finger spot). And there are two of them. I imagine it is safe on the upper rack of the dishwasher. So if one is in the dishwasher, you can use the other one 🙂
- What are its cons? It takes a little while to get used to the setup and motion of how it exactly works. But the video on Amazon really helps, and I hope my video does too. I found that I wasn’t able to slide the protector along the item that was being cut. I had to lift it up and place it back down on the item, making it much more time consuming. The finger holes are not really adjustable.
review update
I’m still using the finger guard, but I’m not using the cutting gloves as much. The gloves seem to be a little bit more of an effort. The finger guards are now easy to use and very helpful. The finger guard is easy to put in my kitchen drawer. I think both do the same as far as protection goes. Maybe the glove would even offer more protection depending on what you were cutting.
But I might start using the glove more because fine motion coordination is more difficult with the finger guards, and I think the glove would offer more protection in terms of dexterity and motion coordination.
I don’t really use this finger guard anymore. It just feels like a pain to get it out of the drawer each time. But it works well. I do feel somewhat unsafe using knives but if I got scared or considered them necessary to use the knives, then I would use those products [finger guards or cut-resisant gloves].
