If you live with fuzzy pets, you have to accept that everything you own will eventually be covered in their hair, right? … Wrong. Hi folks! It’s Joni with Day Undefined. The product I’ll be reviewing today is the HandsOn pet grooming gloves.

I live with a very affectionate—very fluffy—orange tabby. I used to think that dark-colored clothing was a thing of the past, since I would inevitably be covered in cat hair within moments of getting dressed. I tried being proactive, but I found that a lot of pet brushes on the market caused him discomfort or even pain (I’m looking at you, wire brushes). Oftentimes, the handles were also difficult for me to hold steadily enough to use the brush safely.

These gloves eliminate the need to grip a brush handle while wrangling your pet. Gone, too, is the worry of hurting them by applying too much pressure. (This can be a major concern for animals with tactile issues, a history of abuse, or thin hair.) Instead, your pet will get your love, attention, AND a relaxing massage. Score!

The HandsOn pet grooming gloves arrive as a pair, but I wear only one glove and use my other hand to hold and reassure my scaredy cat. The product sizing chart was pretty accurate for me. Ideally, you want the gloves to fit you snugly enough to securely groom your pet, but not so tightly that they cause you discomfort. You may want to go up if you are in between sizes.

One trick I have learned is to never use these on completely dry fur. If you do, it will definitely help your pet shed their loose hair…and immediately cover your clothes and everything else. My suggestion is to have water handy in a spray bottle, and spritz the glove every so often. This will help bind the loose hair, so it is easier to gather off the glove for disposal. Using water this way can also help groom those hard-to-reach spots, especially for elderly or overweight pets.

These gloves can also be used to gently lather and scrub your pet’s coat while bathing them. Please note that the gloves are not intended to detangle matted fur; depending on your pet’s patience and pain threshold, a wire brush or clippers may be more effective for this purpose.

I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you.

review update

June 2023

1. Do you still use them? Yes
2. Do they still work well? Yes
3. Anything else you want to add? I still highly recommend wetting the gloves prior to use to prevent loosened hair from flying away.

I still use and like this product. It’s so much easier to collect the loose fur now rather than cleaning up the shed fur later. There may be an adjustment period when introducing the gloved pettings to new fuzzy kids. If you keep at it with positive reinforcement, treats, and increasingly longer sessions, you will get there!
