The key “pro” about the self closing toothpaste caps are that you don’t have to unscrew the cap before and after use. The first few times I used it, I tried to unscrew it and pull if off out of habit 🙂 Not having to unscrew the toothpaste cap is such a pro because I often drop traditional toothpaste caps.
Now that I have used them for a little while, they don’t always come out exactly clean like on the Amazon video. I find myself running the hot water over the cap to get rid of any toothpaste left over. That way the next time I want to use it, there isn’t toothpaste or especially dried toothpaste that prevents a controlled amount of toothpaste coming out when you squeeze. So I make sure there is no toothpaste left on the cap when I am finished.
Other than that, I can’t think of any cons now that I have been using it for a while. And I just realized that because you get six in a package, we can put these caps on our travel toothpaste tubes!

I still use them. One thing I don’t like about them is that when you squeeze toothpaste out sometimes there’s a little bit left on the outside of the cap, and it hardens and then it’s hard to get a full flow of toothpaste from the cap. I hope that makes sense. But I have discovered that every now and then if you take the cap off the toothpaste and squeeze it, you can get toothpaste from the other side (where it would normally be if it was attached to the toothpaste). So I take it off, squeeze the cap to get toothpaste for that moment and then I run it under hot water and that cleans it all out nice and clear.
I still use these, but I am a little discouraged in the fact that they need to be cleaned out more often than I thought they would have to be because there’s toothpaste stuck inside. They also don’t stay clean at the very outside where the toothpaste comes out. Maybe that’s just the way I’m using it.
