My name is Dawn, and this product is the egg cracker by Oukeyi. You can buy it on eBay or Amazon. I was using this product for a few months just to be sure that I was able to share an informative video, but generally this is very easy to use and I recommend it for disabled people and able bodied people – after all everyone has an issue with eggshells once in awhile right?
I probably use this product a couple times a week, after all, I really enjoy eggs. It’s a good thing, too, because I live on a large expanse of property and I raise my own cageless, free range eggs.
Very rarely an eggshell gets into the bowl, but it is so uncommon and it really does not allow much to get past and it is very easy for me to fish out a little piece of eggshell. I absolutely recommend it for anyone, a friend of mine suggested to this to me and I was very speculative, but it’s amazing!
This makes my life so much easier. I really do prefer my egg yolks not to be broken, but I have discovered through using it that I need to squeeze the egg cracker as tightly as I possibly can to make the opening large enough so that the whole egg can drop into the bowl. I use two bowls just to make sure I did not drop an eggshell into it and then I transfer it to the other bowl so that I know there is absolutely no eggshells in it. Whoever invented this contraption is a genius!
What are the pros of using this product? Everything! I should have been using this for a decade, because even when I was able-bodied I would still sometimes drop in eggshell and it was quite difficult to fish it out. Using the egg cracker makes this happen maybe one time out of 10. And even if an eggshell does get through, it is so small that it is very simple for me to get them out. And even if you do leave a little bit of eggshell in, it’s only a little bit of extra calcium it’s not going to hurt you!
The only con I can think of is sometimes it breaks more than one yolk, but this is not a problem because I have absolutely no problem making scrambled eggs! If I would change anything on this product, I might make the opening to drop the yolk a little larger – just a teeny tiny bit – because I am disabled and it took me a little bit to realize I need to squeeze the handles together as tightly as possible in order to not break the yolks.
For the cost, I think it is definitely worth it, it makes life so much easier. If I ever break the one that I have I am definitely ordering another one!
review update
I still use this product almost every single day, and I still love this product – not like. I would add that very rarely does an eggshell squeeze through and I remedy the situation by cracking the egg into a bowl, and if a piece of eggshell slips through I am able to fish it out pretty easily and then I add it to the large bowl of scrambled eggs. I’m still amazed at this product and wish I had found it 10 or 15 years ago. It’s awesome.
