Below are my thoughts on 5 different products that you can get from Amazon. At the very end, I give you my own personal ranking of these products for using on chip bags and also for bread bags. You can also see all my demos of these products in this video.

An orange and green Grip Stick are on a counter beside the packaging and a chip bag that has a purple Grip Stick across the top.

1. Bag Sealers (GripStics)

What I like: Comes with three different sizes

  • Easy to put on the bag
  • Is good on any chip bag
  • Simple instructions
  • Only have to fold the top of the bag and slide on the seal

Note: It may take a little effort to slip on some bags, especially if the bag has wrinkles

Video: Ellie shows you how to slide a GripStic bag sealer onto the top of a folded chip bag.

A green clip with black rubber on the handle is holding a chip bag closed. Blue and pink clips in different sizes are sitting beside the bag.

2. Chip Clips

What I like: A lot come in one package

  • It has a rubber grip so your hands wouldn’t slip off
  • Not a lot of effort to open

Note: These clips are not meant to go on full or heavy bags because they will slip off. They only work well on light bags with not a lot of food inside. I would suggest researching ones with more grip to the bag.

Video: Ellie uses the chip clip on a folded big bag but shows how it slips off more easily.

A blue clip has been snapped across the top of chip bag that has been pulled together at the top. Pink and purple clips of different sizes are on the table beside the bag.

3. Sealing Clips

What I like: A lot come in a package of different sizes

  • Once clipped onto the bag, it will not come off unless opened again
  • Can also use these for bread bags

Note: They are not big enough for a big chip bag, so you have to crumple the top of the bag together to put on the clip. I think this is harder to use on a chip bag.

Video: Ellie snaps this sealing clip across a gathered chip bag but finds these easier for bread bags.

A peach colored bread bag clip has been fastened to close the top of the bread bag.

4. Bread Bag Clips

What I like: Comes in a pack of 8

  • Easy to put on
  • Do not have to twist a tie around the bag
  • Holds the bag well

Note: It might be difficult for some people to push down all the way

Video: Ellie squeezes this small clip open and attaches it to the twisted plastic bread bag.

A clothespin is holding the top of a plastic bread bag shut.

5. Hack: Clothespins

Clothespins are another way to seal your bread bags. They would be a better option to use than the bread bag clips if you have trouble pushing those down all the way.

  • Easier to squeeze open than some other products
  • Tip: Can also use these for other things, like holding together papers

Note: It is not sealed as tight as the bread bag clips so it might move around a little.

Video: Ellie uses the clothespin at the twisted part of a bread bag.

Ranking these Products for Chip Bags:

1) GripStics, 2) Sealing clips, 3) Chip clips

I love the GripStic because you can fold the top of the bag instead of twisting the top. Also, its very easy to slide on the bag. The sealing clips are my second because they are not the best for chip bags but they still work really well. I just am not a fan of twisting the bag and then putting the clip on, but once it’s on the bag it does not move. The last one is the chip clips because you cannot pick up big chip bags by the clip because the bag will fall.

Ranking these Products for Bread Bags:

1) Bread bag clips, 2) Sealing clips, 3) Clothespins

Bread bag clips are better than twist ties. You only have to push down and put the bag in. It holds very well, and the part where you push down is a good size. The sealing clips are a lot easier for bread bags than chip bags since they are easier to close, and they hold nicely. I like clothespins but, they can move around easily and possibly fall off if you did not twist the bag a couple times. Tip: Clothespins are also good for keeping papers together, kind of like a paperclip 🙂

I will keep using the bread bag clips, sealing clips, GripStics and clothespins when needed. I stopped using the chip clips.
